For my A Level Product Design course my task was to make a product to solve a storage problem for my Client, Mr C. Hart. After doing research into my client, their interests and what specifications my product needed to fit, I started to develop designs for storage all the while meeting with my client to discuss choices and options.
A theme of Classic Mini's was consistent in Mr Hart's office so together we decided that the product should be based upon design concepts of the classic Mini.
After initial designs, design developments and meetings with my client I began to develop designs for a scale model of the classic Mini Traveler (mini woody). I found a graphic diagram of the Mini Traveler to scale, online. This meant I was able to make an accurate model but as a cupboard to store tea and coffee in my client's office.
These pictures show some of the processes I did in order to turn the chunk of Maple wood into a Classic Mini Traveler cupboard.
I managed to get original Classic Mini Traveler hinges as well as door handles and a gear knob to complete the authentic look of the product.
Using a laser cutter and CAD, I made some Mini themed coasters as the cherry on top of a very challenging but enjoyable and rewarding project.
